Aquatic therapy is often a critical rehab component used during a patient’s recovery from injury. Aquatic therapy utilizes the buoyancy of water to unload injured or painful joints to allow improved mobility, decrease pain and facilitate healing. Warm pool temperatures provide a relaxing and therapeutic environment, especially for those with arthritis, back pain, fibromyalgia and other painful conditions.
Pediatric Care
Bend South Clinic Hailey received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in 2007. Upon graduating, she started working as a physical therapist and has honed her outpatient orthopedic skills including manual therapy, specialized therapeutic exercise, agility and balance treatment. As a Bend native, Hailey feels particularly connected to the Central Oregon community and enjoys helping her patients live their best lives. She is skilled in working with a variety of patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, athletes and all the people in between. Family Practice
A part of the health care field for almost 20 years, Jessica has extensive experience as both an acupuncturist and massage therapist in a variety of clinical settings. She joins Rebound after spending the past year working with orthopedic patients at an Occupational Medical Center. Prior to that, Jessica spent twelve years working for a Family Practice MD, as the primary referral for orthopedic conditions. While there, she saw patients varying from children to seniors with conditions ranging from sports and work injuries to chronic orthopedic issues.

Bend East Clinic Connor Perkins, PT, DPT was born and raised in Beaverton, OR. He grew up playing and coaching lacrosse and took that passion and skill to Oregon State University where he played on the OSU Men's Lacrosse Team. Connor graduated from OSU with a B.S in Kinesiology and went on to earn his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Marcos, CA. Connor’s clinic experience is well rounded taking him from Atlanta, GA, Tillamook, OR, and Mission Hills, CA. Connor has treated patients in multiple different clinical settings including outpatient orthopedics, outpatient hospital based, and inpatient. Connor treats a wide array of patient populations and diagnoses and has a specific interest in active populations, general orthopedics, and neurology. Connor recently moved to Bend with his girlfriend and joined Rebound Physical Therapy’s Bend East clinic as an outpatient orthopedic staff therapist! When he is not in the clinic, Connor can be found outside mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, or playing disc golf.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is essentially a pinched nerve in the wrist. There is a space in the wrist called the carpal tunnel where the median nerve and nine tendons pass from the forearm into the hand. Carpal tunnel syndrome happens when swelling in this tunnel puts pressure on the nerve.

While at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, Maura helped to launch a pilot clinic called Wellness in Rehab which sought to promote wellness in a post-acute rehab stroke population by addressing the four pillars of wellness: diet/nutrition, exercise, stress management and social engagement/group support. Maura’s enjoyment with participating to the success of the clinic motivated her to obtain formal education in Holistic Nutrition from Bauman College as a means to augment her OT practice.

“I want you to know how very grateful I am for the vestibular rehabilitation you have guided me through over the past few months. When I came to Rebound, I had been extremely debilitated in my daily life for close to three months. I had immense imbalance issues. I was ‘hanging on’ to people and objects in order to walk from one point to another and could not tolerate certain environments. I was constantly ‘spinning’, often disoriented, and highly sensitive to light, noise and movement. Whether I was standing, sitting or attempting to walk, I had tremendous difficulty. My brain was exhausted from trying to interpret and navigate my environment. Frankly, I was miserable and very concerned. In spite of visits to various medical specialists, CT scans, MRI’s and various diagnostic testing, no one in the medical profession in Bend was able to give me a definitive diagnosis. Tony has practiced as an occupational therapist since graduating from the University of Washington. Tony began his career working in acute care at Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center (HMC), the region’s only level 1 trauma center. He gained his initial experience treating patients in the general surgery/trauma, orthopedic and neuroscience services. During this time he developed a deep passion for treating the upper extremity. He worked hard to attain the title of OT Clinical Specialist, which enabled him to mentor other clinicians in trauma care, including post-operative wound care and fabrication of custom orthoses/splints.

Stemple's certifications in athletic training and strength and conditioning have steered her towards working with athletes of all ages. However, she has a strong background in general outpatient orthopedics, post-surgical care, and vestibular conditions.

Tony has practiced as an occupational therapist since graduating from the University of Washington. His goal of transitioning to outpatient hand therapy was realized when he joined Integrated Rehabilitation Group (IRG) as the Director of Hand Therapy in 2005. During his 9 year tenure, IRG expanded to 8 hand therapy clinics with Tony as the clinical lead providing mentoring and education to their clinical staff, while maintaining strong relationships with local physicians and the community. Tony strives to continually sharpen his skills through continuing education courses. He has attended hundreds of hours of classes in subjects including manual therapy and advanced splinting techniques. He has completed the coursework and is now eligible for manual therapy certification (COMT) from the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine-US. Other schools of training he has attended and valued include the Mulligan Concept, Doctors Demystify, Seattle Center for Structural Medicine, Kinesio taping Association, and Orfit Splinting Workshops. Tony and his wife, Rebecca, and their two children enjoy the Central Oregon community and make the most of the both snowy and sunny days. From skiing at Bachelor and the local Nordic trails, to fly fishing, trail running, playing golf, hiking and enjoying the outdoors; each day is a welcomed adventure!

Maura Murphy earned her M.S. in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University, completing her education with a Fellowship in Hand Therapy at the VA Hospital in La Jolla, CA. Her first job as an Occupational Therapist was at a private outpatient hand clinic in Larkspur, CA which served as a mentorship. This experience expanded her knowledge and skills, and solidified her passion for the specialty. Maura went on to the VA Hospital in Palo Alto where she worked in the acute rehab unit for SCI/D as well as the SCI/D and general outpatient hand clinics.
Tennis Elbow
Lateral epicondylitis, commonly known as tennis elbow, is a painful condition involving the tendons that attach to the bone on the outside (lateral) part of the elbow. Tendons anchor the muscle to bone. The muscle involved in this condition, the extensor carpi radialis brevis, helps to extend and stabilize the wrist. With lateral epicondylitis, there is degeneration of the tendon’s attachment, weakening the anchor site and placing greater stress on the area. This can then lead to pain associated with activities in which this muscle is active, such as lifting, gripping, and/or grasping. Sports such as tennis are commonly associated with this, but the problem can occur with many different types of activities, athletic and otherwise.

Aquatic Exercise provides multiple benefits for many orthopedic conditions, including acute or chronic back pain, knee and hip arthritis, shoulder injuries, and athletic injuries. During Aquatic Exercise, the water’s resistance helps patients improve strength, conditioning, and mobility. Aquatic Exercise also helps improve circulation and can promote the healing process of your injury. Most patients experience decreased pain and improved function following their sessions. Many of our patients find that long-term participation in an aquatic therapy program is beneficial, and we make it our goal to help you transition to an independent program at a pool convenient for you.

Redmond Clinic Laura received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, continuing on to a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Kansas Medical Center. Upon graduation, Laura moved to Portland where she worked as a physical therapist for several outpatient orthopedic clinics. Laura went on to pursue advanced training in orthopedic manual therapy; she is a Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) through the Institute of Physical Art. Laura has also completed coursework in visceral mobilization, vestibular rehabilitation, neuropathic pain treatment, and TMJ dysfunction. She enjoys working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, with a particular interest in chronic pain and multiple areas of pain that have not responded well to traditional treatments. Outside of the clinic, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband and two young daughters. She enjoys Central Oregon's sunshine and beautiful scenery; it is the perfect environment for her favorite activities of camping, golfing, horseback riding, and training for triathlons.
