Dental Examination

X-rays
Digital X-ray captures details about your teeth and jaw that we wouldn’t find with just a regular appointment. Digital dental X-rays are much safer than regular dental X-rays, exposing patients to up to 90 percent less radiation and forgoing the need for harmful chemicals to develop the images. Additionally, we don’t have to take them to a dark room; they can be made available to view immediately on our computers so that you don’t lose any time in our office.
Oral Cancer Screening
On average, oral cancer claims the life of one American every hour. Our dentists hope to prevent this disease by performing quick yet thorough oral cancer screenings during routine checkups. They’ll closely examine the tissues in your mouth and throat for abnormalities that could be cancerous or pre-cancerous, and they’ll arrange for a biopsy if they find anything worrisome. That way, you can get the diagnosis and treatment you need as early as possible.

Teeth Cleaning
Like adults, kids need dental checkups and cleanings every six months. These visits should start around the time your baby’s first tooth emerges from their gums. During these checkups, we’ll make sure their teeth and jaws are developing properly. As your child grows older, we’ll begin adding teeth cleanings to their appointments. By getting your little one acquainted with the dental office from a young age, they’ll naturally be more comfortable getting their smile treated as an adult.
Fluoride Treatment
If our team determines that your teeth are at a particularly high risk for decay, then you may benefit from increased exposure to fluoride. You can find this vital mineral in most supplies of public drinking water and likely your toothpaste as well. Research has shown that fluoride can remineralize weakened tooth enamel and even reverse the early stages of cavities. Our team can take a few short minutes to paint a topical fluoride gel onto your teeth, giving them enhanced strength and protection.
Dental Sealants
Children often struggle with cavities in their molars and premolars (back teeth). Not only do these teeth have wide, grooved chewing surfaces that can trap food particles, but their location makes them difficult for short arms to reach when brushing. To protect your child’s back teeth while they’re still mastering oral hygiene, we can place a thin layer of clear, tough resin called dental sealants. Once applied, sealants should block out harmful debris for up to ten years.

Fillings
Resin Composite
When our practice first opened, the standard for treating damaged caused by cavities was to place a filling made from dark gray amalgam. Nowadays, we have a much healthier and more cosmetically pleasing option – tooth-colored fillings. They’re made from composite resin, a malleable substance that comes in various shades that can be matched to the natural color of your tooth. The resin is also able to directly bond with the tooth’s structure, allowing for smaller fillings that preserve more of your enamel.
Veneers
No matter what issues you may have with the appearance of your teeth, chances are that veneers can make them disappear. Once we’ve placed these extremely thin porcelain shells over your teeth, they’ll improve basically every aspect of your smile at the same time. Whether your teeth are cracked, discolored, misshapen, or even slightly misaligned, veneers can fix them in just two appointments. Plus, with the right care, veneers can easily last upwards of 15 years.
Crowns
With a dental crown, we can completely cover a vulnerable tooth, which shields it from additional damage while also preserving the natural structure that remains. Also known as a “cap,” a dental crown is a highly versatile treatment that is ideal for a tooth that is severely decayed, sensitive, misshapen, cracked, or worn. Although we offer traditional gold crowns due to their durability, many of our patients prefer crowns made from porcelain or zirconia because of their impressive resemblance to natural tooth enamel.
Bridges
Are you missing multiple teeth in a row? If so, a dental bridge is a great way to complete your smile. With a bridge, a specific number of replacement teeth are attached to two dental crowns, each of which is fitted over the natural teeth adjacent to the gap. The bridge is then fixed in place, restoring your biting force and confident smile for many years to come.
