Ultrasound
All imaging is done by registered vascular technologists (RVTs), who are highly skilled and certified in vascular diagnostics. The results are reviewed by our vascular surgeons, both of whom hold RPVI certification. This is the gold standard in vascular ultrasound interpretation, recognizing their expertise in making consistent and reliable diagnoses.
MRI
An angiogram is typically taken to determine where plaque has built up in the arteries and to assess treatment options. Angiograms can be done with a CT or MRI. Sometimes, a catheter-directed angiogram is done, which involves placing a thin tube into the artery and injecting dye to see where the blockages are located.
X-Rays

Occasionally the surgeon may recommend alternative tests such as a CT scan, MRI or venography, in which dye is injected into a large vein of the foot or ankle, and X-rays are taken to look for clots.
