Primary Care
No Shows are serious to a primary care medical practice. Patients that have two No Shows may be charged for the second visit. Upon a third No Show, we may dismiss the patient from our practice.
Ear Infections
Children suffer with allergies in many of the same ways adults do, although since they are often less verbal, particularly when they are very young, they may not be able to describe their symptoms as accurately. Children may simply present as fussy, irritable or angry when suffering pain or discomfort they can't describe. Parents and other caregivers should be aware that children suffering from ear, nose and throat allergies are much more likely than adults to develop ear infections because of anatomical differences in the structure of their ears.
Sleep Disorders
Angelman syndrome is a genetic disorder that causes developmental delay and neurological problems. Infants with Angelman syndrome usually appear normal at birth, but most have feeding difficulties in their first month. By six to twelve months, children with Angelman syndrome display observable development delays, and by two to three years often experience seizures and speech impairment. Children with this syndrome eventually exhibit such symptoms as hyperactivity, sleep disorders, and severe movement and balance disorders. Behavioral therapies are important in allowing individuals with Angelman syndrome to reach their maximum developmental potential.

Emergency Care
In the event of a life-threatening emergency (for example, your child is not breathing), call 9-1-1 and have your child taken to Golisano Children's Hospital or Rochester General Hospital. Please call the office the next day to inform the secretary so that she can follow the requirement for the insurance companies for emergency department visits.
Immunizations
A well visit, also known as a routine physical or medical checkup, is recommended for children of all ages. Regular well visit examinations are important for keeping children healthy and up-to-date on their immunizations. A well visit is also an opportunity to communicate with the doctor about growth and developmental issues and any concerns about a child's overall health. While they may be scheduled more frequently when they are younger, when a child reaches the age of 3, a well care visit should be scheduled annually with a pediatrician. Preventative care is an important part of a healthy lifestyle for a child.

Gynecology
Gynecological exams are valuable to adolescents in many ways. It is important for young women to be assessed early, especially if they are sexually active, and to begin a relationship with a doctor that may guide them through many important milestones in their lives. The adolescent gynecologist provides wellness consultations for adolescents with a goal of establishing a bond of trust and confidence with each patient. Adolescent gynecology is a subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology, or OB/GYN.

Developmental screening is a routine diagnostic procedure used to identify any potential developmental delays. Early detection is a valuable tool in treating nearly every condition, in order to end the problem before it spreads and prevent future damage. Developmental screenings can identify delays that can indicate autism, intellectual disability, and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, among others.
Epilepsy
While autism is not a curable condition, physicians may prescribe medications to treat symptoms related the disorder, such as obsessive-compulsive behavior, social anxiety, depression, sleep problems, and hyperactivity. In some cases, antipsychotic medications may also be used to treat severe behavioral problems. Since 20 to 30 percent of patients with autism will develop epilepsy, anti-seizural medication may also be administered.

Older children may also be checked for scoliosis (curvature of the spine) and for signs of puberty. The pediatrician may also ask about the child's sleep patterns, exercise routine, and eating habits and stress the importance of personal care and hygiene to maintain good health. If a doctor suspects that a child is growing or developing too slowly, they may order additional tests to check for medical conditions such as hypothyroidism, growth hormone deficiency, or other genetic conditions that can affect growth.

Dr. Rozin is a graduate of the Belarussian State Medical University and completed her residency in Pediatrics at the University of Nebraska and Creighton University combined residency program. Her special interests include newborns and infant care, asthma, dermatology, child development, attention deficit disorders.
