Behavioral Health Inpatient ServicesBehavioral Health TriageThe Behavioral Health Center triage area located adjacent to Phoebe's Emergency Center is uniquely equipped to provide services for behavioral health clients. All behavioral health clients who present to the Emergency Center as a direct admission or as an emergency referral will be directed to the Behavioral Health Center triage area. Trained behavioral health staff will provide the patient with a behavioral health evaluation and refer the patient to the most appropriate setting. This setting could be discharge to home, Structured Outpatient Program, In-patient at Phoebe or another appropriate facility.Inpatient Behavioral Care UnitsThe Behavioral Health units are located on two floors of the hospital - 3 and 4 East. There are a total of 38 inpatient beds. The units provide services to individual’s ages 18 and older that have been diagnosed with an acute psychiatric illness and need immediate intervention.Treatment Team and ProgramsThe treatment team is the core to the success of services and recovery. Under the direction of the psychiatrist, the team is comprised of a program director, nurse manager, nurse practitioner, nurses, case manager, social worker, activity staff, and a staff of mental health technicians and certified nurse aides who have medical/surgical and psychiatric experience. The treatment team meets regularly to initiate an individual treatment plan, review each individual’s progress, coordinate care, and discharge planning. The treatment team works closely with the client and families to locate and arrange the best possible placement for each patient.A strong emphasis is placed on relapse prevention, which includes a crisis care plan, with wrap-around services to facilitate a successful discharge from the inpatient unit. The discharge plan will assist the patient in maintaining their optimal level of well-being.Structured Outpatient Program (SOP)The Structured Outpatient Program is designed for individuals who present with a psychiatric diagnosis and have the need for treatment, which is more intensive than outpatient office visits and less intense than inpatient 24 hour hospitalization. The program’s goal is stabilization with the intention of preventing inpatient hospitalization or reducing the length of hospital stay. The program is also beneficial as a step-down unit for patients who have been admitted and are ready to leave the hospital, but might need that extra care that the SOP can provide. A psychiatrist practice is also offered to provide evaluation, assessment and management of medications.Organized as a continuum of care, this system of outpatient programs enables the movement of patients to the most clinically appropriate and cost effective level of care. The SOP strives to manage acute symptoms of the patient and to return the patient to a more desired level of functioning in a relatively brief period of time..
