X-rays
A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by your dentist at your initial dental visit to Cudahy Dental in order to diagnose any dental issues and diseases that will require treatment. This will include a full series of digital dental x-rays and intraoral photos taken with our intraoral cameras to better show our patients our findings as we see them.
Oral Cancer Screening
This will include an exam of the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.

Fluoride Treatment
Dental Sealants
As a practice, we believe that preventative care and education are the keys to optimal dental health. We strive to provide “dental health care” vs. “disease care”. That’s why we focus on thorough exams – checking the overall health of your teeth and gums, performing oral cancer exams, and taking x-rays when necessary. We also know that routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are all helpful in preventing dental disease. Not only are we focused on the beauty of your smile, we’re also concerned about your health. A review of your medical history can help us stay informed of your overall health, any new medications, and any illnesses that may impact your dental health.

Resin Composite
Dental restorations come in many shapes, sizes and appearances. The dentists at Cudahy Dental are expertly trained to provide a customized treatment plan for each patient’s needs ranging from composite resin (tooth colored) and amalgam (silver) restorations to more extensive and custom fabricated restorations like crowns (caps) and bridges.
Veneers
One of the most notable technological advances made was the introduction of the Cerec digital workflow. This allows the dentists to complete procedures like permanent crowns, veneers, inlays and onlays for their patients in a singe visit; and aid in digitalizing many other procedures. Cudahy Dental has also invested in 3D xray imaging allowing for treatment planning and completion of implants and more complex procedures.

All tooth surfaces will be checked for decay with special dental instruments Including examination fo existing fillings, crowns, etc.

Depending on our patients cosmetic desires, these smile enhancements may involve minimally invasive procedures like orthodontics, composite bonding, and hand crafted ceramic restorations like veneers. More extensive cosmetic enhancements may require procedures like crowns, bridges and implants to restore more damaged and missing teeth.
Restorative Dentistry

Root Canal Treatment
Endodontic therapy, more commonly known as a root canal, is needed when the nerve of a tooth has become irreversibly irritated or infected as a result for tooth decay or other damage.

Deep Cleaning

Dentures
Partial dentures are designed to replace multiple missing teeth when a patient still has multiple, healthy remaining teeth. This style of denture is custom crafted to use a patient’s own natural teeth to support and hold the appliance in place during use.

Dental Implants
The dentists at Cudahy Dental are highly trained in the planning and restoration of dental implants and are proud to offer in-house implant placement with Dr. Jumes who has devoted countless hours of continuing education to offer that service to our patients.

Tooth Extractions
For an implant to be needed by a patient, a tooth must first be removed (extracted) or already missing. The doctors at Cudahy Dental are well versed in minimally traumatic tooth extractions. Our doctors are well aware this can be an anxiety inducing and stressful procedure for many. We work closely with each patient to maximize their comfort during the procedure and have the ability to provide nitrous oxide and oral sedation depending on the specific patient’s needs.

Orthodontics
Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry specializing in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of jaw, face and bite irregularities know as malocclusions.
Invisalign Orthodontics
Though Cudahy Dental does not have an orthodontist in the practice, we work closely with many outstanding orthodontists right here in our own community. These providers help us optimize our patients smiles and, more importantly, treat malocclusions that have a negative impact on the long term health of our patient’s teeth. Some of these corrections can even be made with with clear aligners (Like Invisalign ) instead of conventional braces!

Dr. Melcher strives to provide his patients with exceptional care, individually tailored to his patient’s needs and desires. This is why he pursued additional training with a General Practice Residency at the Portland VA Hospital following completion of his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Marquette University School of Dentistry. He is a firm believer that his patient’s understanding of their treatment and treatment needs is of utmost importance. He makes every effort to ensure that all his patient’s questions are answered and that they have a strong understanding of their treatment. Dr. Melcher maintains membership with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and is active member in the Spear Education Continuum and local study club. When he isn’t practicing dentistry, Dr. Melcher enjoys spending time with his fiancée and their German Shorthaired Pointer, Theo. He is also a self proclaimed foodie and avid outdoorsman.
