Can I give it a negative star? I had my mail held while I was on vacation for a week. Four days after accumulated mail was to be delivered, it still isn't here. In fact, I was only contacted after multiple voice mails & emails; that person said she couldn't find my mail, but assured me the carrier would find it & deliver it today - I'm still waiting. It appears that a week's mail has been lost at the Decatur Post Office. I plan to go there Monday & refuse to leave without my mail (probably should take food & a sleeping bag, shouldn't I).

Atleast you all are getting your mail. I've been waiting for over a week for 2 letters that should've been here within 4 days. The mail man keeps delivering the wrong people's mail to my house even after I told him time & time again that those people no longer live here and I guess that ticked him off and now I haven't had any mail for week, not even a bill. Its definitely time to call in and inquire into this situation.

I have been trying to track a package for the last two months and all I get is the run around!! Everyone I speak to passes me to someone else who doesn't know anything, just talks in circles. I must have been given 10 different phone numbers to call. Even the web site is a great big waste of time! Their service is horrible!!

I'm amazed at the negative reviews. For over two years, I have been driving several miles out of my neighborhood to go to this post office whenever I have a package to mail. The staff has been unfailing helpful and courteous, and there are often three or four clerks at the counter. The hours are convenient, and I like being able to use the self-help package drop at all hours. Often customers are chatting with each other, and the post office has a nice neighborhood feel to it.

Obviously one person had a bad experience. But I think it's a good post office. considering how bad post offices can be :)

Clearly the above 7 reviews were written by the same person. how rude is that? I have been to this post office many times and never once had a problem. The staff was always very pleasant.

We went at 9am to renew two passports and got out of the post office at 11am. Throughout the course of the morning they charged me for the wrong thing (I wanted expedited & overnighted), told my boyfriend they wouldn't process his application without a birth certificate (you don't need one if you have an old passport), and put the wrong address on my envelope. We heard them call someone else to come back in because they forgot to have him sign his passport application. My three times at the counter (fixing payment/addresses) were held up because all of the employees are constantly gossiping. Someone who knew what she was doing came and helped at the end, for which we are eternally grateful. Please find another post office if you value your time.

This is an appalling post office. Illiterate staff, rude counter help and a manager that forces carriers to deliver unaddressed trash to your mailbox. This is the only post office I have ever used that lost a letter I deposited in the post office outgoing box. This is the busiest Decatur post office, being in the DeKalb county seat of Downtown Decatur. Usually only one of four postal stations are open to help customers. There are always long lines. Do yourself a favor find a small, post office nearby and go there.

Issue (1): The most consumer traffic of any post office that I've been through, yet there's never more than 2 attendants working counters?Issue (2): Impossible to reach by phone, regardless of your plan of attack (calls dropped by some extensions, and voicemail unanswered through others). All extensions attempted at different times of day, on different days.Issue (3): This post office is a black hole for incoming international packages. 3 times now within just 1 month, the movement of international packages has stopped at this post office. No notices of arrival at unit for pickup, no delivery attempts...Nothing. Your foreign shipping carriers can't contact USPS to investigate (their policy is that the shipper must file an investigation - you cannot as the receiver). 15 years of volume shipping/incoming from 5 different locations (moved) and I have never had such problems with a single post office. I am literally considering moving just to distance myself from this post office.

We have had a terrible time getting our mail forwarded when we travel for extended periods. Once I came back and the mailbox was stuffed with un-forwarded mail including bills, medications, bank statements, checks, etc. This seems to be happening again right now. Regular mail service is extremely erratic as well. Our entire block has wondered if the letter carrier is just throwing our mail into a landfill!

Some mail carriers apparently cannot read and often deliver mail by street number regardless of street name.

The staff was unhelpful, rude and condescending. One employee went as far as to hang up the phone in the middle of a question. Very disappointing.
