Dental Examination
Oral Cancer Screening
An oral cancer screening is a simple and painless evaluation of the inside of your mouth. This is important to undergo every six months, especially if you are a high-risk patient. At your screening, we’ll check for visual changes in the color and texture of your skin and tongue as well as feel for lumps, cysts or tumors on the skin inside your mouth. We’ll also have you remove your partials or dentures if you wear them to examine the tissue underneath. Any suspicious areas of your skin will need biopsy, which we complete at our office. This tissue sample will be evaluated for cancer, and if you’re given a diagnosis, we are specially trained to provide treatment with minimally invasive C02 laser therapy. Any oral pathology concerns put you in a scary and stressful situation, but we’re experienced and trained to effectively treat situations like this. Rest assured, you’ve come to the right place to be evaluated and treated.

Crowns
A “gummy” smile occurs when too much gum tissue covers over the visible tooth crowns, making the teeth appear short. Treatment involves removing excess gum tissue to restore natural symmetry and the proper tooth-to-gum ratio. Soft tissue recontouring may also be completed if decay or fracture is present beneath the gum tissue, providing access for proper treatment or restoration with a dental crown.

General Dentistry
Dr. Mary DiPirro was born and raised in Wild Rose, WI. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which she attended on a merit-based Music Scholarship and played flute in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. She went on to obtain her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree at Marquette University School of Dentistry, Milwaukee, WI. Following this, she completed a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the University of Florida. Dr. DiPirro then entered private practice for a period of two years. She went on to complete her four year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2010. She joined Salem-Peabody Oral Surgery in 2016. Dr. DiPirro is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. She is an active member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association and the North Shore District Dental Society. She is the director of the Essex Club, an affiliate of the Seattle Study Club network, one of the most advanced continuing education groups for dental professionals in the world. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support. She also holds a staff position at North Shore Medical Center.
