Wingspan Glass goes above and beyond to provide its customers with great products and service. Regrettably it was not able to solve Michelle’s unique situation. Wingspan ordered specifically what Michelle had requested and installed it properly as it has done over the past 15 years of business. Tempered glass does not weigh more since it’s a heated process the changes the properties of the glass. Nothing is added to it. Additionally it regularly cautions customers of the need to allow caulks and sealants to cure for a minimum of 24 hours. Unfortunately, while we appreciate her need to keep her 18 year old son safe and confined at night, we did our very best to try to resolve her predicament. Glass, even the stronger tempered glass, will not stand up to the continued pushing and pounding by someone determined to get it out. The standard wood stops are not made to hold up to that type of exertion which is why one broke when he pushed on the window. Wingspan’s technician did their best to reinstall the window a second time, with the proper sealants, and repair the broken stop (since we cannot carry every manufacturer’s stops). In this instance typical window glass (tempered or not) combined with a normal window installation are not going to be the solution for Michelle’s special circumstances. We sincerely hope she is able to find a reliable solution.

Wingspan agreed they would be able to replace the regular glass in our sons double hung window with tempered glass. They special ordered the size and when it came in we brought the Anderson frames to Wingspan at 8am. At 5pm we picked up the frames with the tempered glass and NOBODY told us not to install them because they were supposed to completely dry 24 hours. We put the sashes in our sons upstairs bedroom window and at 3am our son with autism tapped on the window and the tempered glass fell completely out of the window frame. Our son could have fallen from the second story of our home. We brought the frames back to Wingspan and they said they would fix them but as a parent I called Anderson window directly they stated that the tempered glass is heavier than regular glass and I would have to purchase new springs for both sashes and would never recommend installing replacement tempered glass in sashes because of the frame. I told this to Wingspan and they said Anderson is not telling the truth because tempered glass is not heavier and you don't need different size springs. Wingspan insisted on fixing them again and we picked them up and they gave us them back with the piece that holds the glass in BROKEN on the outside so water, snow, etc. could get behind the wood frames. We decided to return the sashes to Wingspan and order directly from Anderson. We told Wingspan we would pay them for the cost of tempered glass not the installation. For safety issues we could never use those sashes/windows again. Wingspan insisted that we pay them in full for everything which was 300.00 plus dollars completely new sashes and new functional springs and tempered glass directly from Anderson was 425.00. Wingspan has very poor customer service, over priced and they should have never said they could do something that they knew nothing about.

We recently had a new shower enclosure installed into our remodeled master bathroom. We met with Dave to pick out our glass and finishes. When the tile work was complete he scheduled an appointment to measure. The technician arrived ON TIME and was very polite. When the glass came in they again scheduled an installation appointment with us. The technician arrived on time, was very professional and even took his shoes off! The door looked fabulous. He even left a card telling us when we could use the shower and what to use and what not to use to clean it! We were very satisfied with the service and our new door! We highly recommend Wingspan Glass!
