Pain Management
Anything that causes pain in people can be expected to cause pain in animals. Pets may not show the same symptoms of pain as people do; they usually don't whine or cry, but you can be sure they feel it. Pain medications needed will depend on the surgery performed. Major procedures require more pain relief than things like minor lacerations. The doctor will evaluate your pet individually and make the best pain control recommendations for his or her situation. Your cat will likely receive pain medications before and after surgery, and additional pain medication may be sent home for you to administer orally after surgery.

Wound and Fracture Care
We are very proud of the facilities that we offer our patients, and our surgery room is no exception! This room is reserved for patients requiring sterile surgery, such as spay or neuter, but also more serious surgeries, such as bladder stone removal or fracture repair. Our surgery room is equipped with state-of-the-art anesthesia and monitoring devices.

Dental Surgery
Dentistry: Dental care is often overlooked in our feline companions, but is a very important component of your cat's overall health. We stress proper dental care, and the doctor will examine your cat's teeth at each of his or her wellness checkups. Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery. We also take full mouth digital dental x-rays on every dental patient.
Veterinary Surgery
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures, from spay or neutering to fracture repair and more serious surgeries.
Declawing
In short, no, we do not declaw. We strongly believe that there are much better options for owners and their cats. Declawing involves amputating bone from each digit of the foot, and as a result, cats may suffer from chronic pain. Other options, like training to a scratching post, nail trimming, and Soft Paws are more feline friendly. We are happy to provide you guidance in learning to trim and manage your cat's nails at no charge. We also offer a discount card for those clients who prefer to bring their cat to the clinic for nail trimming.
Spaying and Neutering
At Riverside Cat Hospital, we are equipped, trained, and prepared to offer a variety of surgical services for your pet. This includes spaying and neutering for your new kitten as well as surgery needs that may arise if your cat becomes ill. We also offer a full range of dental surgery services including surgical tooth extractions, when necessary.

Laboratory Services
Laboratory: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. We work with outside laboratories, including the state-of-the-art laboratory at MSU, to provide access to the latest in testing and diagnostic expertise. Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing.

Microchip identification: We offer AVID microchip identification. A microchip can assist shelter or veterinary personnel to contact you in the event that your cat is lost or escapes. Microchip placement is quick and easy, and can be done at any visit. Our microchip fee includes chip registration.
