For several years now I have been performing volunteer eye surgery at the CCSM Eye and Dental Clinic in El Progresso, Honduras. The clinic is well equipped for cataract, retina, plastics, glaucoma, pediatric and dental surgery. Specialty surgery is routinely provided by visiting US physicians.
Ophthalmology
In concert with Quintiles and other CRO's, Doctors Jemshed A. Khan and Robert Rymer have performed Ophthalmology services for FDA Phase 1, 2, and 3 clinical trials for many years. Currently, Dr. Khan and Dr. Robert Rymer, MD collaborate and work closely with Dr. Phillip Leese, MD, Medical Director and Quintiles' physicians at Qunitiles Kansas City Area Phase I Clinical Research Unit in Overland Park, Kansas. Quintiles is the world's leading provider of pharmaceutical research contract services and has helped develop all 30 of the world's leading pharmaceuticals.

The first step is an examination and often times a CT or MRI scan. Based on the findings, a biopsy or removal of the tumor may be recommended.

Reconstructive Surgery
Dr. Khan is an active member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is a councilor to the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Khan has also served on the Board of Directors of the Kansas and Missouri State Ophthalmology Societies, serving as past president of the Kansas State Ophthalmology Society.

Botox
Botox is delivered by a Physician as a series of tiny injections that relax the wrinkle-producing muscles, resulting in a smoother skin appearance. Botox relieves wrinkles for about 3-5 months in most patients.
Eyelid Surgery
Dr. Khan is experienced at correcting other surgeons' eyelid problems because eyelids are his area of highest specialization. If you are referred to Dr. Khan because of a problem after an eyelid surgery, it does not necessarily mean that anything was done wrong by the first surgeon.

Dr. Khan has several offices located in and around the greater Kansas City area. He also has an office in Lawrence and surgery center in Topeka.
Face Lift
Patient had been operated upon by another surgeon for a facelift and lower eyelid blepharoplasty. Too much skin was taken and the lids weren't tightened with an unfortunate result of the lower eyelids being pulled down and always irritated.
Blepharoplasty
Asian blepharoplasty refers to procedures that are used on Asian eyelids, usually to create an eyelid crease or fold. Most procedures are performed in an outpatient surgery center under twilight-sleep anesthesia using laser techniques.

Forehead Lift

Skin Cancer
There are many types of eyelid tumors ranging from benign to malignant. Often, an office biopsy is helpful in determining the type of tumor in order to choose the best treatment. Some of the more common malignant tumors are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, sebaceous carcinoma, and melanoma.
